DFW PR Girl

DFW PR Girl: Can you please tell me a bit about yourself and describe your design aesthetic?
Maria Luna: My name is Maria Luna, I grew up in southwest Detroit, and graduated from Wayne State majoring in fashion design and metalsmithing. I have had a passion for sewing and designing outfits since I was a child. It seems that most fashion has always revolved around the cookie cutter type model and I believe everyone is beautiful at any body type or age.
DFW PR Girl: What do you hope to convey through your designs?
Maria Luna: Overall I strive to present unique twist on contemporary designs. That being said, depending on the inspiration for the garment or collection there may be some variations. I try to make each garment contain a few features that are complementary with a collection, but really stand out when viewed individually.
DFW PR Girl: In what ways has Detroit inspired you?
Maria Luna: The diverse cultural mix found in the metro area and even the suburbs of Detroit is amazing. I find many inspirational ideas at almost every corner, the heavy influence of manufacturing and the automotive industry has shaped so much of this city’s spirit.
